How many days should I spend in Hamburg?

Three days is ideal for a first visit — HafenCity and the Elbphilharmonie, Speicherstadt warehouse district, the Saturday Fischmarkt if timing works, and an evening in the Schanzenviertel or Eppendorf for food and drinks. Two days feels rushed; four lets you explore Blankenese and take a harbour cruise properly.

What is Hamburg famous for?

The Beatles played their early shows here in the early 1960s (there's a Beatles-Platz in the Reeperbahn area). Hamburg has the world's largest model railway at Miniatur Wunderland. The Elbphilharmonie is one of the world's most beautiful concert halls. And Fischmarkt — the Sunday fish market that's been running since 1703 — starts before dawn and is genuinely unmissable.

Is Hamburg expensive?

More expensive than Berlin but significantly cheaper than London. Restaurant meals and accommodation are better value than comparable UK cities. The HVV transit system is excellent and affordable for getting around.
